ren kuroshio : nocturne
Me? Well, if you insist...
Name: | Ren Kuroshio |
Age: | 22 years old |
Alignment: | Villain |
Alias: | Nocturne |
Quirk: | Revenant |
Revenant: A powerful manifestation exclusive to the men of the Kuroshio family. Allows the user to harness physical power, flight, and flames, at the cost of extreme pain to the body.Painkillers prove ineffective against this pain, notably. The only way to negate this side effect is to use the Quirk when upset--the power will then feed off of the emotion, and not the user.
Just don't blame me for what happens next.
The past? A foundation for the future.
It all began on the humid evening of June 6th, 1996, when the Kuroshio family welcomed its heir into the world. Blessed to have had a son after a few miscarriages, they named the boy Ren—after the subtle influence of the lotus flower.
Ren Kuroshio grew up the envy of his few childhood friends—wealthy, handsome, popular and seemingly undisturbed by his parents. In truth, though, he was far from perfect: Nearly every single day of his fourth year alive was spent locked up at home, his parents and grandparents alike watching over him. Waiting. He knew not why, until the day that he discovered his Quirk: “Revenant,” his family line had called it. It was a power that only attached to the men of his bloodline, and even then, it would only show itself in those it deemed worthy. It was a blessing, in the eyes of his family—and a curse, in his own.
Revenant, you see, was far beyond what any young boy could control. A manifestation of superhuman energy within the body, it caused Ren extreme pain, in exchange for demonic traits and powers. His body felt like more of a vessel than his own, and in time, he understood that this was how his parents saw him, as well: A means to an end—a means to sustain the family line, and little more.
From the time that he first obtained his accursed Quirk, he was kept isolated: Homeschooled, not allowed outside, nor allowed to use the telephone. Television was an exception, and through that, he learned of the world of heroes and villains. Though, his parents insisted that the news was not his friend—that he should not trust the media’s view of heroes as absolute. Over time, they warped his perception of good and evil, such that he saw evil as a more efficient way to gain what one wanted in life.
Ultimately, he was released from his prison-like home by his own two hands: Enraged at his father for not letting him go outside on a particularly-beautiful evening to see the fireworks, Ren lost himself to his Quirk, and dashed the man against the wall, killing him. Horrified—and strangely liberated—Ren escaped into the night, setting the manor on fire so that he would be assumed dead in the blaze that followed.
Correct in his assumption, he disappeared into the city-at-large, using the masses of Tokyo as cover to begin his descent into the criminal underworld. His warped ideals made for the perfect fuel, as he sought entry into the League of Villains—the perfect group for an outcast like himself.
Though, not all foundations are sturdy.
Them? My usual haunts, you might say.
